The Financier
I chose to read a novel 'The Financier' written by Theodore Dreiser. Honestly, I had a choice to make: to read Martin Eden (the book which I had already read in Russian) or to read the Financier which was completely new book to me. I decided to give it a go and start reading the Financier. It's important to mention that I enjoy reading such books as they encourage their readers to act like the main characters, to achieve their own success through constant struggles and adversities.
The book cover doesn't contain a lot of info about the plot. It only briefly tells a reader about the author(1). 'The Financier' is based on real-life of streetcar tycoon whose real name was Charles Yerkes.  I reckon the main theme of the book is competition or, to put it in another way, a financial war. It symbolizes Frank's determination in gaining his goals and his desire to have an upper hand over everyone competing with him. He wants total domination in streetcar business. Because of the subtlety of his mind,Frank knew how to effectively deal with finance and make money out of nothing since he was a teenager. It was a child's play to Cowperwood to cope with lots of financial abstrusities, and he already ran his own company by the age of 26.
I suppose my peers would find this book interesting and engaging because it demonstrates to the audience that life itself is a big and constant struggle. The main character shows us the importnace of not giving up when everything seems to be hopeless. Frank is the real example(2)of a warrior who encourages everyone to get back on their feet after setbacks.

    had already read in Russian) or to read the Financier – the book that was completely new to me : the dash is used thiis way in Russian,in English a link verb is necessary
    It only briefly tells a reader about: ART
    based on ART real life
    Frank is the real example: ART

      And about the references: it's not enough to provide the link to the resource; this is what you do in the body of your writing. In the end of your work you need to add full reference details: there is a post in the blog about it at

    The thing is I took the information from the Wikipedia, so it's not just an excerpt from a particular author, it's rather taken from the source that can be added by anyone. Thus, my question is: could you please tell me what I have to do in such cases?

The site I'd like to share with everyone is all about listening but not a simple one. The site specializes in listening to people from different countries, thus, providing a listener with the opportunity to differenciate the accents of some speakers. For example, we can turn on a conversation where one of the interlocutors can be from Sydney and the other one from Edinburgh. So, the site creates a very natural atmosphere where a person becomes completely involved into listening to different accents as if it is happening in real life. We can choose seven options of difficulty depending on the level of a listener. I do recommend everyone to challenge themselves by reaching the last level which is the toughest one. Undoubtedly, regular listening to the audio files which,by the way, are absolutely free to use here will enhance listening skills and familiarize people with lots of accents.

Speaking on using voice mails

Nowadays it’s hard to imagine someone who records voice mails and, moreover, uses them on a regular basis. It sounds preposterous and the young generation would obviously internally poke fun at such people. And I can certainly understand them. As for me, I don’t use them and neither are my groupmates or simply the people I know. No-bo-dy. I believe that if someone can’t find on the Internet the info they search for, they can alternatively ask their relatives or friends to help them with this issue. It’s just simple as that. Sorry for the shortness of my sentences, but answering about the Internet is like using it: quick and simple. I don’t worry at all about contacting someone via the methods listed above. The only thing that confuses me is recording a voice mail. I am convinced that trying to communicate with someone (especially with a stranger) via voice mail is not the best option to choose.
