My Dream Job


A disclaimer: the essay has nothing to do with me in real life. I've just made it all up.


Hope you will understand my choice to arrange things this way. 


Nowadays there are lots of huge and successful companies and corporations which a great number of young people strive to work for. While some people truly love medicine, history or sport, others find it fascinating to work in IT. However, all the spheres mentioned above have nothing to do with my preferences and dreams. 
To begin with, I've always been interested in space. Not only did I watch lots of scientific films and series related to it when I was a child, but also I had plenty of magazines on this topic. Stars, galaxies and even aliens have always aroused my interest. That is why I decided to be an astronaut a long time ago. Now that I've grown up, I can see that this occupation has many advantages which I am satisfied with a lot. 
Firstly, generally, this job is very important in terms of exploration and research: the more people become astronauts the better, faster and more thoroughly we can explore space. If a bigger number of people took part in this mission (compared to that we have today), it would allow the humanity to seek for other forms of life except that of Earth. So, what I mean is, the general purpose of this occupation is humane. Plus, it’s a great chance to meet lots of other people who share your interests and desires and who want to improve this world just as I do.
Secondly, I'm a perfect example of such type of person that fits a pattern of a true astronaut. I have never been afraid of challenging myself, of tackling problems, facing my fears. In addition, my health conditions also allow me to apply for this job. An astronaut must be a cold-headed, brave, intelligent person with great physical abilities like endurance and stamina. Unfortunately, people with bad health are not allowed to work there; much less can the disabled people work there, however, it isn’t always like that. What is more, even if a person's body is prepared to be in space conditions, it's not enough: astronauts have lots of physical exercises as well as tasks aimed to practice their mind, to mentally prepare a human to face extraterrestrial conditions. [Here is a link] 
Thirdly, I have enough knowledge in the English language which, I assume, would allow me to work not only for Russian companies, but also for such corporations as NASA. A specialist with good knowledge of any language, especially English, has always been more employable than that of just specialists.
Fourthly, in the Russian company Roscosmos which I want to work for, salaries for astronauts are incredibly high. Moreover, such people always have a stable income, long holidays and lots of other benefits, including early retiring with high pension. For now, I need to graduate from this uni so that I can enroll at the Moscow's one where I can study to be an astronaut. 
All things considered, being an astronaut is a very prestigious and responsible job. Not only does it show your knowledge in everything: engineering, language, mathematics, etc., but also it shows how well you can get on with people as living on a spacecraft in small rooms requires that you must communicate with others all the time. I've been dreaming about this occupation since I was seven, and I will definitely aspire to it in the nearest future.

    Hello Nikita,

    I'm curious what prompted you to write this work. Can you share with me/us how you came up with this idea?

    I can say that it was interesting for me to read it, and I enjoyed it very much. Itdemonstrates your imaginattion and sense of style. Great!

      job is very important in terms of **explorations and researches: WNum > here both words should be in singular; "exploration" can be used in plural in e.g. in reference to various types of explorations or a collection of explorations; "research" on the other hand is ALWAYS used in singular and is an uncounrable noun; however, if it is combined with the word "study", it can be used in both sg and pl., so it's correct to say "a research study" in sg. and "research studies" in pl
      it would allow THE humanity: the definite article is necessary
      I'm a perfect example of **that type of person > such a type of person
      enough knowledge **in (PREP) the English language
      such people always have ART stable income
      to enroll **at (PREP) the university
      being an astronaut is ART very prestigious and responsible job

Post-4 Interesting-topics for discussion

To begin with, I’d like to mention that the diversity of our thoughts depends on what we do or see to enrich our mind. So, personal preferences breed our interest in something and create a variety of topics we’d like to discuss or share. To me, there are three topics I’d like to draw attention to: cyber sport, movies, and social networks. I have chosen cyber sport because I’ve been playing computer games since I was 10.
