Speaking on using voice mails

Nowadays it’s hard to imagine someone who records voice mails and, moreover, uses them on a regular basis. It sounds preposterous and the young generation would obviously internally poke fun at such people. And I can certainly understand them. As for me, I don’t use them and neither are my groupmates or simply the people I know. No-bo-dy.
I believe that if someone can’t find on the Internet the info they search for, they can alternatively ask their relatives or friends to help them with this issue. It’s just simple as that. Sorry for the shortness of my sentences, but answering about the Internet is like using it: quick and simple. I don’t worry at all about contacting someone via the methods listed above. The only thing that confuses me is recording a voice mail. I am convinced that trying to communicate with someone (especially with a stranger) via voice mail is not the best option to choose. There are lots of social media platforms as VK, WhatsApp, Telegram and so on. It’s possible to make a voice recording via them which is not the same as a voice mail. But I know some people who absolutely hate to receive voice recordings and they ask such people to text them instead.
It seems to me that leaving a thank-you message mainly depends on the age of the person you text to and on the situation itself. If it is an old person who traditionally percepts the ways of communication or if it is a college teacher, or a business letter then I agree that a thank-you message is necessary. But it’s pretty unlikely that you can see such forms of contacting in a casual chat because the young generation is very lazy. We don’t want to spend even 5 seconds on reading something we don’t want to: either it is a thank-you message or a short article. Time is what really matters. As for answering the last question, no, I have neither offended someone in such way and nor has someone done it to me.

  1. Hello Nikita,

Thanks for your answers but having read them I have realised that probably I've formulated the task not very clearly. My idea was that you'd use the information from the article to compare and contrast voice mail and text messages. Yes, you have explained the attitude of young people to the forms of communication discussed in the article but probably the question that could be discussed in more detail is the netiquette. Here's just one examples of such rules https://www.verywellmind.com/ten-rules-of-netiquette-22285. What's your opinion about them?

    1. I think the advice is very useful . Here is what I've realized: I myself use these tips inadvertently! And I reckon everyone on the Internet can feel that, for example, by using caps lock you trigger people to think that you are shouting at them. In addition, files that you consider beautiful and amusing and which at the same time are too overloaded are not perceived by others as attractive ones. It annoys people and bores them, and again every one senses these things. As for some other tips, I'd say they are obsolete:( Generally, mail now is not that popular as social media. The number of people using mail as a way of being in touch with somebody gradually decreased because of creating apps like VK, Facebook, Telegram and so on. There are lots of quick, modern and convenient ways of sending messages through VK, Telegram. Mail is rather used for business purposes or for any formal affairs.

    2. Hello Nikita,

Thanks for your answer. It was interesting for me to read it and learn more about your opinion. What is your preferred tool for communication with your peers? How often do you communicate using it? Do you find the content of your communication qualitative? Would you like to change anything in it to make it more rewarding?

  2. I communicate everyday with others on VK using text messages. Also, I call my friends up if I want to deliver any info that is too long and big to be written. The content is not that qualitative, it's usually the talk about routine, especially now that we have to spend our time at home because of the COVID situation. I wouldn't change anything, it's okay for me to be linked with others this way. I consider communicating with my peers to be entertaining because most of my time I study and it drains me a lot.

Nowadays, the global situation has changed completely: from our daily habits and routine to our ways and methods of working, studying, and simply ambling along the street. COVID-19 has locked the majority of the population in homes. Now that the planet has undergone such a dramatic issue, lots of other problems, unfortunately, have become overshadowed and Africa is not an exception. To begin with, the problem the world faces today has caused lots of governments to act on impulse, and thus chaos has ensued. The African continent has always been the poorest area on our planet which sanitation level has been the lowest one. Deceases, poverty and destitution are the factors which Africa is associated with by many people. Resources for Using English

The site I'd like to share with everyone is all about listening but not a simple one. The site specializes in listening to people from different countries, thus, providing a listener with the opportunity to differenciate the accents of some speakers. For example, we can turn on a conversation where one of the interlocutors can be from Sydney and the other one from Edinburgh. So, the site creates a very natural atmosphere where a person becomes completely involved into listening to different accents as if it is happening in real life. We can choose seven options of difficulty depending on the level of a listener. I do recommend everyone to challenge themselves by reaching the last level which is the toughest one. Undoubtedly, regular listening to the audio files which,by the way, are absolutely free to use here will enhance listening skills and familiarize people with lots of accents.
