Blog#3 Room 101

In my opinion, the Room 101 must contain the World's most global problems. Hopelessness, wars, diseases. I have put this words in such an order to demonstrate how one thing breeds another.

Hopelessness. A great example of hopelessness is Adolf Hitler. If we take a look at this historical person at a different angle, we can observe that his actions were caused by his dreams not being embodied. To put it differently, his dream to become a painter was ruined because of one failed attempt to enter the university. Consequently, failure led him to the point where he desperately tried a number of options, opportunities that life offered him. After some time,Hitler was not fully satisfied with his life's achievements which resulted in hopelessness. Thus, the Second World War broke out.

Wars. I think I don't reinvent the wheel by stating that wars are the most horrible things in the world. Wars are full of hatred, violence, cruelty, blood, famine, etc. Throughout the history, wars have destroyed lots of nations by compelling them to face each other. Wars have devastated lots of infrastructures in countries and cities which always resulted in famine in them. Wars can make a well-developed country be wipped out of existence. The most vicious things which had been done to people occured on our planet during the war periods.Talking about the WWII, I'd like to mention that, for example, in Japan, it ended with a horrific crime that the USA had ever committed. The nuclear attack that the USA tested on Japan resulted in millions of deaths of innocents. Thus, those who were lucky to survive had been radiated and, consequntly, died of cancer.

Diseases. The USA's nuclear attack  has had a huge effect not only on the Japanese people but also on the whole world.  Moreover, the Chernobyl accident which occured on April 26,1986 has increased the number of people suffering from cancer. Besides, war also breeds a lot of diseases becasuse of the lack of sanitation. Apart from that, people who had been suffering during the war times from infant malnutrition also had lots of health problems in their adult times.
To sum up, I wish these 3 things disappeared off the face of the
earth once and for all.

  1. Nikita,

you have chosen an interesting set of things to put into the Room 101 and explained well the reasons for choosing these particular ones. Smth that needs attention is the references. You need to add this information to stay free from plagiarism. The reason you need to do it is that the facts you have mentioned do not fall into the category of common knowledge in which case it is not necessary to provide the references. In all the other cases it is.

**his dreams not being released: did you mean the dreams were "not realised"

    articles:
Consequently, ***failure led him: actually, you can also use a personal pronoun and thus avoid the problem of choosing the right article
wars are the most horrible **things(Style): find a more sophisticated word

  2. Here's a link to a Wikipeida article about A. Hitler. We've just checked that it contains the information you refer to about him in your essay. So you can add this reference to your essay

  3. Make a reference to a resource discussing the history of WW2. Again, for the purposes of this class you may refer to the wikipedia article: for example, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II

  4. Here is one more reference you need to add; it is about the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

The Financier

The Financier I chose to read a novel 'The Financier' written by Theodore Dreiser. Honestly, I had a choice to make: to read Martin Eden (the book which I had already read in Russian) or to read the Financier which was  completely new  book to me. I decided to give it a go and start reading the Financier. It's important to mention that I enjoy reading such books as they encourage their readers to act like the main characters, to achieve their own success through constant struggles and adversities. The book cover doesn't contain a lot of info about the plot. It only briefly tells a reader about the author(1). 'The Financier' is based on real-life of streetcar tycoon whose real name was Charles Yerkes.  I reckon the main theme of the book is competition or, to put it in another way, a financial war. It symbolizes Frank's determination in gaining his goals and his desire to have an upper hand over everyone competing with him. He wants total domination

Semester work assignment #1

Russia-Ukraine: tentative progress at first talks for three years The topic I’ve chosen is connected to the Russian-Ukrainian issue that’s been unresolved for 5 years since the Crimea incident. The question is very controversial and the relationships between the two countries were tense, and situation still has not changed so far these days. I'd like to consider two periods in its development: what happened before the meeting and after it. It is necessary to say a few words about a certain period importance of this event The majority of European countries and the USA still consider Russian annexation of Crimea as an illegal action towards Ukraine. As an immediate response to Russia, lots of them imposed their sanctions on the Russian Federation which then resulted in the deterioration of the situation.  Thus, Russia was expelled from the G8 for such inappropriate behavior which led to the rapid decrease in influence of the country on the world stage. In addition, in 2014, a m
